Dorothy Lu “Dottie” Ragan, daughter of Lyle Jackson and Rita (Bright) Laws, was born in Mercer, Mo., on Oct. 10, 1937, and passed away Feb. 2, 2014, at the Westview Acres Care Center in Leon, Iowa, at the age of 76 years.
Dottie was raised in Mercer, Mo., where she attended school. She lived most of her adult life in Des Moines where she worked as an admission clerk at Iowa Lutheran Hospital for several years. In her retirement, she resided in Humeston, Lineville and Leon. She enjoyed the country life of her early years such as cooking, canning, hunting mushrooms and berries, crocheting, needlework and quilting.
Dottie is survived by her son, Billy J. Ragan and daughter-in-law, Sheryl of Sioux Falls, S. D.; daughter, Kimberly Hart of Des Moines; brother, Jack Laws of Des Moines; sister, Wanda Nyman and brother-in-law Garrett of Cottage Grove, Ore.; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Dottie was cremated under the direction of the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Service of Lineville.
Internment will be held at a later date in the Evergreen Cemetery near Lineville.
Middleton-Greenlee Funeral Home of Lineville was in charge of arrangements.
