Violet Ann Richardson, 95, of Clio, passed away May 20, 2017, at the Wayne County Hospital in Corydon.
Violet was born to Joseph and Martha (Fattig) McFarland on April 20, 1922 in Lucas, Iowa. During her high school years, she was welcomed into the home of Will and Mary Marolf and stayed with their family until she left to get married.
Violet was united in marriage to Karl Richardson on June 22, 1940.
Violet was a homemaker; raising her children was her life’s work. Besides raising their own children, Karl and Violet were nurturing to other family members and also very loving to their children’s spouses. She was a member of Eastern Star and enjoyed cooking, quilting and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include three children: Carolyn Jane Lockwood of Stapleton, Neb., Jerry William and Sonya Jo Richardson of Clio, Kenny Richardson and Rita of Mesa, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great- grandchildren and sister, Minnie Ethel French of Cheyenne, Wyo.
Her husband, Karl; daughter, Shirley Smith; siblings, Frances Maynard, Christine Toops, Martha McGee, Johnny McFarland, Eldon McFarland and an infant sister Darlene preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held at the Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon with Rev. Leroy Perkins officiating.
Interment will be in Clio Cemetery.
