The Special Olympics Unified Cheer Team has had a busy couple of months preparing for competition. Practice started in January and continued until competition on March 10 in Iowa City at the State Mid-Winter Games.

In preparation for the competition, the team got some help from the Wayne High School cheerleaders and Coach Grismore. The team even got to help cheer at a high school basketball game and then perform their routine at halftime. That was really fun!

Coach Becker and the squad continued to work hard on the routine. In Iowa City the squad gathered at Iowa City West High School for competition. The cheer team did a great job performing their routine and was awarded with a bronze medal!

After lunch some of the team gathered at Carver Hawkeye Arena for a tour. Some highlights included seeing the wrestling room, practice basketball gym, and going down onto the floor of the arena while the menís gymnastics team was practicing.

Itís been a fun and rewarding season and now we are on to the spring season competitions.
