Because some elections had not been officially certified by the county board of supervisors before press-time, the following election results are considered “unofficial.”
Fewer than 25 percent of registered voters turned out to vote in city elections in Wayne County last week, but all city positions were filled.
Unofficial results in Corydon show Rodney Parham taking the mayor’s position with 101 votes. He ran unopposed on the ballot, but there was a scattering of 16 write-in votes.
Three council members were elected for full terms. Incumbents Daren Relph received 118 votes and Cheryl Nessen, 99. Terry W. Morgan will join the council as he had 85 votes. Mindy Hefner was also on the ballot and received 41 votes.
Eric Jaeckel will fill Corydon council’s unexpired term, being elected with 92 votes over Ron Parham’s 32.
Only 128 of Corydon’s 1196 registered voters, or 10.3 percent, made it to the polls.
Allerton
Incumbent Doug Downs retained the mayor’s chair in Allerton, with 55 of the 58 votes cast.
Robert Davis received 50 votes and Galen Lunsford, 34, to take positions on the Allerton city council. There was a scattering of 15 write-in votes.
Clio
Voters in Clio returned Robert Mortimore to the mayor’s position, with 100 percent of the 11 votes cast.
Also receiving a vote of 100 percent confidence in Clio is councilwoman Cathy Tuttle, with 11 votes.
Humeston
Slightly more than 21 percent of Humeston’s 398 registered voters turned out for last week’s city council elections, but 75 of those voted for Jefferson Grant Dachenbach, putting him soundly in the mayoral seat. Dachenbach was appointed mayor by the council in July when then-mayor Russell Wright resigned. There was a scattering of seven write-in votes.
Timothy Myers, with 55 votes, and Jeff Gwinn, with 50, will fill the council seat which has been vacant since Dachenbach was appointed mayor and the one vacated by current councilman Bill Carlton who chose not to run for re-election.
David Keller received 40 votes for council member, with Bill Hoover garnering 12. There was a scattering of six write-in votes.
Lineville
Lineville’s mayor Jack Shields was re-elected with 30 write-in votes for another four-year term.
Incumbent Dennis Rankin garnered 23 votes to serve another Lineville city council term. Challenger Tom Shriver will serve, having received 24 votes.
Incumbent Connie Couchman came close with 21 votes and Craig Wik had 12.
Millerton
Only five of Millerton’s 27 register voters came to the polls, but the town’s 22.2 percent vote scored higher than any other town in the county.
Dan Carpenter and Sandy Eisenberg were elected to Millerton’s council by write-in, with five and four votes, respectively.
Promise City
In Promise City, Tim Tometich was elected to the council with 12 votes and Connie Guffey with eight. Jean Richards was elected with 10 votes to fill an unexpired council term.
