When the Allerton City council met on June 8, they were met with three separate bids to replace the sidewalk at the Centennial building.
MP Construction submitted a bid of $13,150, Jones Construction bid was $11,500, and JV Concrete bid in at $9,875.
The council voted to accept the bid from JV Concrete.
Approval was given on the resolution with Chariton Valley Planning and Development, supporting the formation of a local housing trust fund.
A request from First Stop for a cigarette license renewal was approved.
The council voted to approve the fire protection amount for the year 2010-2011.
An early lien release was allowed on a resident’s property. The resident’s house had work completed on it during the last block grant. The lien was originally due to be released on August 2010.
What to do about junk vehicles in the city was discussed. Two residents were allowed an extended period of time to get their vehicles repaired and back in operation before the council takes further action with the issue.
The American Legion and the Horizons Group own the old Headstart building. Members asked if the city could help them find the old water lines on the property.
Water superintendent Danny Stewart will try to find the line so it can be hooked to the city’s main water supply line.
Both the city and the fire department have been making payments for the new fire truck, which was paid off this year. The fire department is asking the city to continue with financial help.
The council indicated they would try to continue with funding, possibly in the amount of $2,000 per year. The discussion will continue at the next scheduled council meeting.
City clerk Jan Hysell shared a letter drafted by city attorney, Verle Norris, regarding a dilapidated property within the city limits.
According to the draft, the owners will have 20 days to abate the nuisance.
The council went into closed session to discuss an employee review.
When the council came out of closed session they set the next meeting date for 6:15 p.m., Thursday, July 8 before adjourning.
