LALI NOREEN CHERINGTON
Lali Noreen Cherington, daughter of Edson Fayette Smith and Grace Marlee (Moomey) Smith was born May 10, 1922, in Osceola, Iowa, and passed from this life July 24, 2010, at the Clarke County Hospital in Osceola at 88 years of age.
Lali grew up in the Osceola area. She graduated from Osceola High School, Class of 1939, class valedictorian. She was united in marriage to Dannie Lee Cherington on March 10, 1940, at Princeton, Mo., and two children, Gayla and Floyd, blessed this union. Dannie and Lali lived most of their married life in Decatur County near Garden Grove where they farmed from 1942 until 1987. Lali was a farmwife to the fullest extent. She took great pride and enjoyed helping and running the farm. After retiring in 1987 they moved to Osceola to make their home together and still managed their farms. Dannie preceded her in death in 2002 and Lali continued with her involvement with their farms.
Lali enjoyed sewing, genealogy and was a member of the Chapter K of P.E.O. She attended the Osceola United Methodist Church. The farm was never far from her mind and she took great pride in managing the farm activities.
Lali was preceded in death by her parents; husband Dannie; and sister, Betty Lorraine Green; three brothers, Austin, Eldon and Clifton Smith,. She leaves to cherish her memory daughter, Gayla Shay of Loveland, Colo.; son, Floyd Cherington and wife Beverly of Carrollton, Texas; five grandchildren, Rocinda Green of Loveland, Rolanda Redman of Weldon, Rochelle Cochran and husband Jeremy of Loveland, Stacy Cherington and wife Lynette of Houston, Texas, and Jodie and husband Kevin Erickson of Austin, Texas; 14 great-grandchildren, Paula Green and Kelli Chase, both of Loveland, Jacob Snook of Germany, Joseph Snook of Weldon, Joshua Snook of Eliwanda, Calif., Jordan Cochran, Erin Cochran and Logan Cochran all of Loveland, Colo., Kathryn Cherington, Emily Cherington and Sarah Cherington all of Houston, Garrett Bloys, Alyssa Bloys and Nathan Bloys all of Austin, four great-great grandchildren, Alexander Nevins-Snook of Grinnell, Marilyn Reynolds, Dustin Reynolds, and Reilley Chase all of Loveland,; as well as other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola on July 27, with the Rev. Hugh Stone officiating.
Musical selections were “Amazing Grace” and “On The Wings of a Dove”. Vocalist was the Rev. Robert Miner and the pianist was Lisa Wallace.
Casket bearers were Stacy Cherington, Rocinda Green, Rolanda Redman, Rochelle Cochran, Lynette Cherington and Jodie Erickson.
Honorary casket bearers were Paula Green, Kelli Chase, Jacob Snook, Joseph Snook, Joshua Snook, Jordan Cochran, Erin Cochran, Logan Cochran, Kathryn Cherington, Emily Cherington, Sarah Cherington, Garrett Bloys, Alyssa Bloys Nathan Bloys, Alexander Nevins-Snook, Marilyn Reynolds, Dustin Reynolds and Reilley Chase.
Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery in Osceola. Kale Funeral Homes in Osceola and Truro were in charge of arrangements.

RUSSELL ALAN NEELY
Russell Alan Neely was born June 14, 1948, in Tucson, Ariz.  He is the son of Charles William and Gwendolyn Jean (Grow) Neely. He passed away Aug. 4, 2010, at Mount Clemens, Michigan near Detroit.
Russ graduated from Cambria-Corydon High School in May 1966. He attended Iowa State University, graduating with a degree in industrial administration in July 1970. He then continued his education by attending the University of Oregon, obtaining his masters in business administration in December 1974. He also became a certified public accountant and spent his career as a CPA.
Russ was the national competition chairman in the Alfa Romeo Owners Club and an avid racer in the Sports Cars Club of America.
Russ was a recovering alcoholic and was very active in AA in Oklahoma City. He served as a counselor and manned the hot line phones at every opportunity.  He was extremely proud of the fact that he had been sober since Jan. 1, 1993.
He married Deborah Ann Doran on Aug. 30, 1969 and they were blessed with three children, Jayd Doran and Jacob Dylan Neely and Meghann Doran Neely. Russell married Margaret Lillie Mulloy on Oct. 5, 1991.
Russell is survived by his wife Peg of Edmond, Okla.; mother Gwen of Palm Desert, Calif.; son Jayd of Nashville, Tenn.; daughter Meghann and fiancé, Joseph Gardner, of Phoenix, Ariz.; sisters, Cheryl and husband Ronnie Guthrie of Corydon, Janell and husband Randy Pool of Wake Forest, N.C., Liesl and husband Paul Fitzpatrick of Urbandale; and a host of extended family and many, many friends.
His son Jacob Dylan and father Bill Neely preceded him in death.
A memorial service was held at the Methodist Church in Corydon on Saturday, Aug. 7.
