LEONARD E. “GENE” SALSBERRY
Leonard E. “Gene” Salsberry, 66, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, died July 28, 2010, at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 31, 1944 in Greencastle, Mo., to Edwin Eugene Salsberry and Margie Mae Davis Salsberry.
He was raised and attended schools in Novinger, Mo. He married Doris Downen, they later divorced. On Nov. 22, 1977, he married Charlene Jackson in Novinger. He worked for Firestone Tire Company in Des Moines and Union Pacific Railroad. Most recently he was a chauffeur for Rigby Country Living Center in Rigby.
Gene was a member of the Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Charlene Salsberry, of Idaho Falls; daughter, Victoria (John) Arlene Young of Ririe, Idaho; sons, Scott Goddard of Rolla, Mo., Mark (Cindy) Salsberry of Corydon, Chris Salsberry of Des Moines, Kevin Dean (Angelia) Salsberry of Des Moines; sisters, Janice Frost of Novinger, Barbara Burk of Kirksville, Mo., Connie Ruggles of Novinger; brothers, Vernon Salsberry of Novinger, Eddie Salsberry of Kirksville, Bill Salsberry of Queen city, Mo., Bob Salsberry of Novinger, Frankie Salsberry of Novinger; 13 grandchildren, four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Jennifer Kathlene Davis; three sisters, Janie, Joyce, Bonnie; one brother, Laverne; and one grandson, Kirt Davis.
Funeral services were held at the Clio Baptist Church on Aug. 5 with Pastor Joe Moreno officiating.
Musical selections were “Over the Rainbow,” “There You’ll Be,” “You Raise Me Up,” and “My Heart Will Go On.”
Casket bearers were Stetson Young, Vernon Salsberry, Frankie Salsberry, Bill Salsberry, Dahlton Young, Eddie Salsberry, Bob Salsberry and John Young.
Interment was at the Clio Cemetery. Randolph Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
