Gail J. Teed, 81, of Colfax passed away Oct. 7, 2013, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. The son of Gail Delroy and Esther (Kern) Teed, Gail was born Jan. 8, 1932, in Colfax. Gail served in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
On June 10, 1955, he was united in marriage to Carol Brandon in Long Beach, Calif. He worked as a machinist at John Deere in Ankeny for 15 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of Hope Assembly of God in Colfax as well as the American Legion and the American Pigeon Association.
Those left to honor his memory include wife, Carol; children, Kim Teed of Newton, Clifford Teed and wife Alesia of Newton, Carolyn Main and special friend Michael Schreck and Debora Byrd and husband Dan of Newton; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Alene Beard of Colfax, Ruby Beard of Arizona, Bonnie McCart of Corydon and Henrietta Nickell of Cedar Rapids and brother, Richard Teed of Colfax.
His parents; son, Rodney; three brothers, George, Edward and Leland and two sisters, Dorothy Homes and Donna Smith, preceded him in death.
A celebration of life was held Oct. 11 at the Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax with Pastor Matt Stuva officiating.
Musical selections were “I’ll Fly Away,” “Amazing Grace.” “Old Rugged Cross” and “Just A Closer Walk With Thee.”
Casket bearers were Kurtis Main, Jeff Jones, Andy Smith, Jason Coulson, Mark Smith and Jerry Smith.
Honorary bearers were Robbie Teed and Michael Schreck.
Interment was in the Ashton Chapel Cemetery in Mingo.
