SHERRIE S. HURSEY
Sherrie S. Hursey, 65, of Iola, Kan., formerly of Lenexa, Kan., passed away March 3, 2013, at Windsor Place in Iola.
She was born June 26, 1947, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Glen and Velma (Pickering) Vaughn. She attended schools in Corydon where she graduated from high school in 1965.
Sherrie was united in marriage to Kendall Hursey on July 30, 1966. This union was blessed with three children. They later divorced.
Sherrie lived in Iowa for most of her life until moving to Lenexa in 1976. While her children were young Sherrie was able to be home with them and she served as P.T.A. president while they attended Bonjour Elementary. She later began working outside of the home and worked as an accounts payable/receivable specialist for several businesses before working as customer service manager for JC Penney.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Sherrie is survived by two daughters, Christine Honn and husband Rodney of Kincaid, Kan., and Carrie Thompson of Salina, Kan.; son, James Hursey and wife Samantha of Olathe, Kan.; brother, Gary Vaughn and wife Kate of Chicago, Ill., and eight grandchildren, Samantha, Kaylla, Rebecca, Melissa, Heather, Haley, Hannah and Lucas.
Sherrie was cremated with inurnment to be held in the Corydon Cemetery at 12 p.m. (noon) March 16.

LUELLA MADGE KNUTSON
Luella Madge Knutson, daughter of Paul and Constance (Evans) Casey was born Oct. 24, 1923, in Centerville, Iowa, and passed away at the Wayne County Hospital in Corydon on Feb. 28, 2013.
Luella was united in marriage to Harley Delmer Knutson.
Survivors include brother, Howard (Inez) Casey of Ankeny, sons, Gary of Des Moines, Larry (Linda) of Charleston, S.C., Kenny (Sherry) of Lees Summit, Mo., and Denny of Allerton and many grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
Funeral services were held March 6 at the Randolph-Black Funeral Home in Allerton with Rev. Ross Blount officiating.
Musical selections were “In The Garden” and “ Amazing Grace.”
Casket bearers were Gary Knutson, Dennis Knutson, Larry Knutson, Kenneth Knutson, Louis Broccardo and Ron Schreck.
Interment was in the Allerton Cemetery.
Randolph-Black Funeral Home in Corydon was in charge of arrangements.
PHYLLIS KAE YAW
Phyllis Kae Yaw was born in Centerville, Iowa, on March 15, 1936, to John and Marie Crisman of Allerton, Iowa, where she spent her youth on the farm. She graduated from Allerton High School in 1954. Phyllis passed away Feb. 25, 2013, at Taylor House Hospice.
She always treasured her family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them. Phyllis loved the outdoors, helping her dad on the farm, horse back riding, bird watching, camping, hiking, traveling and tennis. She also enjoyed music, movies and was an avid reader. Until her health failed, she loved dancing.
She and Ed spent their winter in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas where they enjoyed spending time with their friends and participating in the activities offered at their mobile park home.
Phyllis was a member of Altoona United Methodist Church where she enjoyed helping with many activities over the years.
Her infant sister, Anne; her parents; the father of her children, Wayne Snodgrass and her husband, Art Yaw, preceded her in death.
She is survived by daughters, Debbie and husband Bob Ragan, Vicky and husband Vern Willey, Jan and husband Cliff Alexander and Roxanne Yaw; son, Doug Snodgrass; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Dian Richardson and her loving companion, Ed Lynam.
Interment was in the Allerton Cemetery.
