Celebrate spring with Wayne Community High School Art Club’s Art on the Street and and WAYCO Arts Council’s Plant and Bake Sale.
Set for 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, May 10, the event will feature student art and presentations, guest artists and make and take tables where Art in the Street guests can make a project and take it home with them.
Explore your artistic side creating hemp bracelets, daisy chain necklaces or work on an Indian bead loom. Try woodburning, wheel-thrown pottery or a simple spin art. Face painting will be available.
Visitors will enjoy watching the magic of Raku ceramics which are expected to come out of the kiln at approximately 11 a.m. Guest artists Jackie and Hal Greenlee will assist high school artists with the Raku firing.
Other guest artists include Rob Davis of Allerton, with his paintings and drawings, and Michelle Bennett of Corydon, who designs and creates beaded jewelry.
The Wayne High School Art Club will serve lunch, with choice of grilled sandwich, chips and drink combo available for $5.
WAYCO Arts Council will hold a plant and bake sale, with proceeds and donations helping to support the Missoula Children’s Theatre, which will feature Wayne County children performing “Pinocchio” the week of July 15.
This year marks Wayne Community’s 14th Art on the Street. Two years rainy weather forced the events inside, to the junior high gym. In case of rain on May 10, Art on the Street will again become Art in the Gym. Otherwise, enjoy the fresh air, sunshine and creative fun of Art on the Street, on Jackson Street just north of the Wayne High School building.
