The Allerton World Fair is coming up on Sept. 14, 15 and 16 with entertainment, food and other fun events. Starting on Sept. 14 at 7 p.m., come see Allerton’s Lil’ Guy and Lil’ Gal Contest at the Allerton Civic Center. Then at 7:45 p.m., view the Community Park Lighting at Knapp Park. Close out the night at 9 p.m. with live music from Robbie Michael of the Sugar Creek Band at The Brickhouse.
Register for the Fishing Derby Sept. 15 at 7-7:30 a.m. at the Bob White swimming area. The Fishing Derby will begin at 7:30 a.m. and run until 9 a.m. The Allerton Booster Club Breakfast will be held from 7-9 a.m. at the Allerton Civic Center. While you’re at the breakfast, pick up “Where at the Fair?” pamphlets until 3 p.m. to find everything you want to do. Catch the vendor fair beginning at 8 a.m. in Knapp Park and then head over at 9 a.m. to free face painting by Syerra Niday in front of the fire training center on Central Ave. Most events mentioned below will be on Central Ave. Come see the Garden Train Club display from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Allerton Round Barn Site. The cake walk will begin at 9:30 a.m.
At 10 a.m., to 2 p.m., see Hearts for Hooves on West Maple St. Kids games begins at 10 a.m. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., kids can bounce for free in the bounce house at Knapp Park.
View the Civil War skit starting at 11:30 a.m. The big parade begins at noon, with the line up starting north of Allerton Lumber. The Parade Marshall this year is the Allerton Garden Club. At 1 p.m., catch the pedal pull. Water balloon volleyball begins at 2 p.m., as well as the washers tournament at the same time and place. The golf cart challenge begins at 3 p.m. Be a kid again at the adult scavenger hunt at 4:30 p.m.; meet at the Allerton Legion/Friends of Allerton building.
Bingo starts at 5 p.m. at the Allerton Civic Center and the alumni banquet will follow at 5:30 p.m. at the Allerton Centennial building. At 6 p.m., participate in monarch tagging with the naturalist at the gazebo in Knapp Park. The bags tournament begins at 7 p.m. Catch the big raffle giveaway at 8 p.m. Close out the night with live music by Zach Jacobs and Kate Daniels at The Brickhouse at 9 p.m.
The last day of the fair will be Sept. 16, with a slow pitch softball tournament starting at 8 a.m. at the Allerton Ball Field. At 6 p.m., join the Hymn Sing at the Allerton Round Barn Site.
During the Allerton World Fair, raffle tickets will be available throughout the day for $1 each or $6 for five. If you collect buttons, purchase a ticket to receive a button. Concessions will be available from the following vendors: First Stop, Allerton Gas Company (providing free popcorn balls), Keep It Simple BBQ, 2 Many Chiefs Concessions, B and E Kettle Corn, Allerton Fire Department and the Hoang Family.
