Christmas kids

While shopping in local stores, you may have noticed at the register when making a purchase, coffee cans and boxes adorned with Christmas themes along with an adorable local child’s face. These are the faces of the children entered in the 2019 Little Miss Merry Christmas and Little Mister St. Nick.

The Corydon and Allerton Chamber of Commerce is once again sponsoring this contest that was open to any children residing in Wayne County. With the age requirements of preschool age through sixth grade, six little girls and two little boys are in the running for the crowns.

The cans and boxes were placed at area chamber participating businesses the week of Nov. 4 and will be collected on Friday, Dec. 13. The boy and girl that receives the most donations in their can or box will be crowned the 2019 Little Miss Merry Christmas and Little Mister St. Nick. on Saturday, Dec. 14 at noon. All participants will also receive a gift bag.

The little girls vying for the Miss Christmas crown are Aria Hagan, Cora Hagan, Ella Hagan and Sophia Hagan, daughters of Josh and Malisha Hagan; Mackenzie Hilding, the daughter of Teddy and Marty Hilding and Nova Salazar, the daughter of Christina Hackett and Andrew Salazar.

Vying for the Mister St. Nick title are Noah Hagan, son of Josh and Malisha Hagan and Silas Hawk, the son of Courney Hawk.

Along with the crowning, the ticket drawing will be held where one lucky winner will walk away with $500 in Corydon bucks. During this event, the Chamber will also be selling cups of chili for 25 cents.

Several businesses will be running store specials on this day. It’s a great opportunity to shop at all our local stores while enjoying some hot chili and discovering who the $500 winner will be!
