Flu season is just around the corner and Corydon Hy-Vee Pharmacy is offering new services to help those within the community receive the services they need, while minimizing contact with others.
“We are now offering drive-up flu shots as well as flu shots being available every time our pharmacy is open,” said Corydon Hy-Vee Manager Becca Bellman. “Drive-up flu shots help minimize exposure to the public and most flu shots are free through insurance.”
Those interested in the drive-up flu shot option are able to drive to the drive-up window and request the paperwork for the shot. The customer will give their Hy-Vee Fuel Saver card and insurance card. The customer will park their car and once the paperwork is processed the pharmacist will come to the car window to administer the shot.
Each flu shot accumulates 20 cents on the Hy-Vee Fuel Saver as well while most regular prescriptions qualify for three cents.
Hy-Vee Pharmacy is also offering pneumonia and shingles shots as well as other vaccinations upon request. Another service provided is free countywide delivery every day and the ability to mail prescriptions within Iowa or Missouri at no charge also.
“In the near future we will be offering Medicare Part D comparison,” said Bellman. “This means we can look at each insurance option and the coverage as well as the cost so the customer can make the best educated decision in their prescription coverage.”
This will be a free service that will be offered through Medicare Part D enrollment from October 15 through December 7.
“Our pharmacist is also offering a comprehensive medication review to make sure all medications and prescriptions are cohesive and they are working to the best of their ability,” said Pharmacy Manager Aimee Perkins.
The pharmacy staff also has the ability to order special equipment on most items to be delivered next day including medical equipment, braces and other over-the-counter medications.
Hy-Vee Pharmacy staff members include Manager Perkins, Pharmacist Duane Schmaltz, Certified Pharmacy Technicians Lee Ann Moore and Michelle Bennett, Pharmacy Technician Trainees Kamryn McDonald and Erin Chase and Cashier Sharon Nickell.
Business hours for the pharmacy are Monday through Friday 9 a.m. until 6 p.m., Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. and closed on Sundays. If you have any further questions you contact any staff member at (641)872-2512.
