With changes to the regular format for the INA News 2021 Iowa Better Newspaper contest, a virtual video was released on Feb. 11 recognizing those across the state for their achievements over the past year in the newspaper industry.
The Corydon Times-Republican was notified in mid-December they were up for four top-three awards within the contest for 2021.
Times-Republican Editor, Sports Writer and Photographer Jen Reed received second place in the Best Breaking News Photo with a photo titled “Horse sale brings in nearly 600 spanning across eight states during COVID-19 pandemic”. Reed received second place in the Best Photo Story category with the photo titled “Stormy Skies in Falcon Territory”.
In the Best Sports Feature Photo category, Reed also received second place with a photo titled “Lady Falcons find pot of gold earning back-to-back trip to state tournament”. The Times Republican was also awarded second place in the Best Use of Social Media recognizing the use of the Corydon Times-Republican Facebook page online.
These are extremely commendable honors as the competition is tough across the state in every category.
