Wayne County Fair

The 2019 Wayne County Fair is just around the corner with this year’s dates set for July 23-29. The Fairboard has worked hard to prepare for this year with many great daytime events and evening entertainment events lined up.

Kicking off the first full day of the fair on Wednesday, July 24, the Wayne County Hospital & Clinics will be the sponsor of the day. Sparkles the Clown is scheduled at the center stage area from 2-8 p.m. The Corydon-Allerton Lions Club will host bingo from 5-8 p.m. north of the event center.

Beginning at 7:30 p.m. on center stage, the 2019 Wayne County Fair Queen, Prince and Princess will be crowed following the pageant. At 8 p.m. the annual Bob Dodson watermelon feed will begin north of the event center.

At 8 p.m. in the main arena the “Bull’s Eye” Archery exhibition and competition will begin. Jeff Beal with his one-man band will be set up on center stage from 8:30-10 p.m.

Corydon Hy-Vee will be the sponsor of the day for Thursday, July 25. The 2018 Iowa State Fair Queen Hailey Swan will host creative cookies in the center stage area at 3:30 p.m.

Beginning at 5:30 p.m. the Seymour FFA will sponsor the kid’s pedal pull on center stage. At 7:30 p.m. the bags competition will begin on the west end of the main arena while the laser tag competition will take place on the east end of the main arena. At 8 p.m. comedian, magician and mind read Gayle Becwar will take center stage.

On Friday, July 26, MFA will be the sponsor of the day. Kicking off evening activities will be face painting by Desirae in the center stage area from 4-8 p.m.

The Benton Battlers 4-H Club will host an ice cream social at the center stage tent at 6 p.m. Also on center stage at 6 p.m. will the “Stop Track Tragedies” by Operation Lifesaver. Beginning at 7 p.m. in the main arena is the Outlaw Truck and Tractor Pull.

Pioneer Hybrids will be the sponsor of the day on Saturday, July 27 where at 7:00 the wildly comedic Wild Cow Milking Contest will begin in the main arena. This is a four-team event that is sure to get the crowd laughing.

Duckworth Rodeo comes back to Wayne County as the rodeo event is set to begin at 8 p.m. in the main arena. Following the rodeo country music artist Royce Johns is set to play on the west end of the main arena.

Kicking off Sunday evening activities will be the South Central Iowa Showdown in the Chastain Show Ring at 5 p.m. Sponsoring the last full day of the fair will be Dekalb Asgrow.

Beginning at 5:30 p.m. the Wayne County Farm Bureau will be sponsoring the mutton bustin’ in the main arena. Duckworth Rodeo will kick off at 8 p.m. for their second night of bringing the rodeo action to the county as the final evening event for the 2019 fair.

Throughout each day a number of kid-friendly activities will take place around the fairgrounds. For a full list a schedule refer back to the July 9 Times-Republican issue with the 2019 Wayne County Fair schedule pamphlet.
