In a special meeting held on Sept. 1, the Board of Supervisors met with potential contractors regarding an update to the courthouse’s HVAC system. Representatives from Travis Mechanical of Chariton, Moorman Heating and Cooling of Centerville and Excel Mechanical Inc.of Des Moines met with the board to begin preliminary discussions regarding the update of the courthouse heating and cooling system.

Board members Dave Dotts, Tom Swearingin and Don Seams along with courthouse groundsman Aaron Hoelting, posed questions to each company representative while also touring the courthouse for each to have a better idea on courthouse layout. The board agreed to move with the search for an engineer for the project to allow each company a level playing field for bids to be submitted for work needed.

In other business, the board approved two pavement patching awards submitted by Engineer Randy Zerr for the 2022 fiscal year.
