Tour of Lights

The Wayne County Fair is getting into the holiday spirit with plans coming together for the first Holiday Tour of Lights to be held at the Wayne County Fairgrounds. The tour of lights will be a two-weekend event with the first weekend scheduled for Friday, Nov. 29, Saturday, Nov. 30 and Sunday, Dec. 1 with hours set for 5 until 9 p.m.

The event will also be held throughout the weekend on Friday, Dec. 6, Saturday, Dec. 7 and Sunday, Dec. 8 from 5 to 9 p.m.

Area businesses, organizations, churches and individuals will be decorating buildings as well as freestanding decorations for visitors to enjoy a drive through Christmas experience.

“Everyone can remain in their vehicles and stay warm while enjoying the Christmas lights,” said Lance Lange.

This event will be a free-will donation where the funds will be distributed to the food pantries in Seymour, Humeston and Corydon for Wayne County

Participants signed up to display Christmas lights and decorations includes Wayne FFA Chapter, Seymour Community School, Gina Thompson with Iowa Realty, Seymour Assembly of God and the Seymour Methodist Churches, United Trinity Parish in Humeston, Bridget Davis with Farm Bureau, MFA in Corydon and Lineville and Corydon State Bank.

Also participating is the New Zion Church, Humeston Livestock Auction, Hy-Vee Food Store in Corydon and Hy-Vee Wholesale, Lockridge Inc., Wayne County Hospital, Family of Norma Taylor, Shivvers Manufacturing, Employees of the Wayne County Courthouse, Wayne County 4-H, Family of Delmar Enright, Helena Chemical and Dodson Tire and Auto.

“This is the first time we have ever held this event and it’s a way our fair can give back to the community,” Lange added. “Please come out and show your support.”
