Minnie Amelia Schable Lund Berner was born July 14, 1926, in Danbury, Iowa, to Carl and Frieda Weifenbach Schable. She passed away Dec.24, 2018, at Wayne County Hospital in Corydon, Iowa, at the age of 92 years, five months and 10 days.

She married Lester Raymond Lund on March 16, 1948, in Mapleton, Iowa.  Minnie and Lester were blessed with two daughters, Patricia and Debra. They celebrated 18 years of marriage until Lester passed away in 1966 after moving to Seymour in 1964 to be Manager of the local co-op.

Minnie was bookkeeper of the local co-op and also worked at Al’s Cafe in Seymour until she married Raymond Berner on Sept. 6, 1969. Two families were united and Minnie gained another daughter, Pamela, and three sons: Kim, Paul and John.

Minnie dedicated herself and her life to her family. She enjoyed spending her time gardening; crafting; playing cards with neighbors, family and friends; cooking for anyone who stopped by; and giving to others. Minnie had a special talent of making work seem fun with her kids. She could never get tired of shopping and especially loved shopping for the grandkids for Christmas. Minnie loved decorating her home for all the seasons and having the family gather for the holidays. One of her favorite holiday activities was to decorate Easter eggs and have the grandkids (no matter their age) hunt them. She also looked forward to spending time with family at Lake Thunderhead in Unionville, Mo. Minnie enjoyed watching cardinals and hummingbirds and taking care of her houseplants, with some of her favorites being orchids and violets. She was involved with clubs in the neighborhood and was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Centerville.

In November 2016, Minnie moved into Care Initiatives nursing facility in Corydon where she lived until going to the hospital on Dec. 13.

Minnie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lester; brothers, Carl Schable and Louis Schable; and sisters, Doris Jepsen and Louise Krueger.

Survivors include husband, Raymond Berner of Seymour; daughters, Patricia (David) Mason of Corydon and Debra (Craig) Sebolt of Seymour; step-daughter, Pamela (Brad) Young of Centerville; and step-sons: Kim (Jan) Berner of Albia, Paul (Cathy) Berner of Flint, Texas, and John (Robyn) Berner of Beebe, Ark.; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
