Roberta Cross


Roberta Ann Cross the daughter of Howard and Naomi (Baker) Walker was born April 13, 1932, near Udell, Iowa. She passed away Sept. 20, 2018, at the Wayne County Hospital.

Roberta was raised in Centerville. On March 21, 1950, she was united in marriage to Joe E. Cross in Centerville. To this union came a son, Major Cross. Roberta accepted the Lord as her savior and was baptized May 4, 1972, at the Christian Church in Unionville, Mo. She also attended the Bethel Church, near her home. Roberta was a happy person and quite content to lead a simple life; close to nature while marveling at God’s creations. One of her delights was an early spring bouquet of flowers, which her husband picked on his way home from the field at dinner time.

Roberta truly cherished the many friends and neighbors that she knew over the years. She enjoyed cooking, baking and canning. Roberta was always sharing with her family.

Survivors include her husband Joe of 68 years; son, Major Cross (Anita); grandson, Billy Joe; great-grandson, Zackary; granddaughters Erin & Tanya; great-granddaughters, Trinity and Sierra; great-great-granddaughter, Ava; and numerous extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Leota Pace; and nephew, Alvin Foster.

Funeral service will be 10:30 am, Wednesday, Sept. 26 at the Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon. Interment will immediately follow at Southlawn Cemetery near Seymour. Visitation will be Tuesday at the funeral home with the family present from 5-7 pm.
