A graveside service, with full military honors, was held for Victor Van Green at the Confidence Cemetery in Wayne County, Iowa, on Aug. 8. Victor passed away while in Henderson, Nev., on Dec. 27, 2019, where he went home to a perfect healing with the Lord. He was surrounded by his wife and family. He was born on Feb. 18, 1936, in Corydon, Iowa, and graduated from Corydon High School in 1954. After high school, he volunteered for the draft and proudly served in the Army for his country until 1956. Presenting the honors at the graveside were members of the JFHQ Honor Guard of Johnston, Iowa.
A funeral/memorial service for Victor was held in his home church of First Baptist in Boerne, Texas, on Jan. 10. Presiding the service was Rev. Dale Sisam (brother-in-law of Victor). Testimonies of his life and how he was remembered were given by Kim Green (daughter-in-law of Victor) and Edwin Sisam (brother-in-law of Victor). Granddaughters Felisa and Brooke Pabilic also gave testimony of how they were loved and raised by their Papa and how they adored and cherished his presence and loving care. Their memories will live forever.
Victor married Virginia (née Sisam) Kyle on June 1, 1985, in Houston, Texas. He is survived by his wife, his sons, Gregory (Kim) Green, David Green, Jason Green and daughter, Jennifer Green. Also surviving are his sisters, Joyce (Fred) McKimball of Plano, Texas, Willa Jeanne (Alvin) McCauley of Adel and Mary Barton of West Des Moines. Along with his five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, he is also survived by step-sons Major Jeffrey (Sofia) Kyle of West Point, NY and Timothy Kyle of Houston, Texas. He also had many nieces and nephews.
Victor was preceded in death by his parents, Colan and Arwillda (Sims) Green and an older brother, Bernard Green.
