The 135th annual Old Settlers celebration in Corydon will run from Aug. 9-12, with the theme of “Celebrating Smalltown USA.”

It all starts on Aug. 9 with window displays and the opening of the hospitality tent and the carnival at 5 p.m. Be sure to catch the entertainment at 7 p.m., the Des Moines Dueling Fiddles, on the bandstand.

The hospitality tent and carnival will open again at 5 p.m. on Aug. 10. At 7 p.m., bring the kids to watch TJ Regul, the Quad City Magician, perform with his card tricks, balloon animals and more on the bandstand. After the magic show, The Boys are back in Corydon to play a night of country music at 9 p.m. in the hospitality tent, which will be serving beer, wine, wine coolers, water and pop.

Come by for a full day of events on Aug. 11, which starts early at 7 a.m. with an omelet breakfast at the bandstand sponsored by Corydon Community Betterment. From 7-7:45 a.m., registration is open for the George Saling 5K/10K and 2 Mile Run/Walk at the north side of the square beginning at 8 a.m.

The cribbage tournament will begin at 8 a.m. in the high school lunchroom.

At 9 a.m., catch the Vendor Fair at the southwest corner of the square. Check out the children’s games on the north side of the square at 9:30 a.m., with cash prizes.

The Laplander Quilt Show will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the United Methodist Church. Also at 10 a.m. will be the presentation of awards for the George Saling run/walk at the bandstand.

Registration for the kiddie parade will be from 10:45 a.m. to 11 a.m. for ages 12 and under. Line up will be at 11 a.m. at the northeast corner of the square and will start at 11:15 a.m. No horses or motorcycles.

At 11 a.m., the hospitality tent will open for the day.

The big parade line up will be 12 p.m. at the northeast corner of the square, with the parade starting at 1 p.m.

After the parade, the Old Settlers program will be starting at 2 p.m. on the bandstand. Stay at the bandstand for Comedy Hypnosis by Cheryl at 3:30 p.m.

At 4 p.m., the fireman’s water ball fight begins on the square and the All Class Reunion will take shelter in the hospitality tent.

Rocky Raccoon, a Beatles tribute band, will perform at 7 p.m. on the bandstand. Following at 9 p.m. will be Aftershock, an 80s tribute band, in the hospitality tent.

Old Settlers will close out Aug. 12 with a performance by Gospel Goulash and worship service at 10 a.m. on the courthouse lawn.
