Athlete of the Week

Brooks Jacobsen intercepting a pass against Grand View Christian Friday evening.

This week's selection for the Times-Republican Athlete of the Week is Wayne Falcon senior Brooks Jacobsen. Jacobsen played an instrumental part in the Falcons 43-37 Homecoming victory Friday evening against the Grandview Christian Thunder.

Jacobsen proved valuable defensively as he knocked down five Thunder pass attempts, including one in the end zone preventing a touchdown for the Thunder.

Jacobsen recorded one interception during the match-up in Thunder end zone territory. This is his second interception for the season.

Jacobsen also forced a fumble that resulted in a Falcon run back for a touchdown. He also tallied one solo tackle and two tackle assists bringing him up to 16 tackles for the season.

The Falcons are on the road Friday, Oct. 5 to New Sharon for their match-up against North Mahaska. Game time is set for 7 p.m.

This week's Athlete of the Week is sponsored by Dodson Auto & Repair., LLC. Jacobsen will be receiving a gift certificate donated by Dodson to use at La Bota Mexican Restaurant. Please stop by the Times-Republican office during business hours to pick up your award.
