SHREVEPORT and ATLANTA, GA – America’s leading junior golf association, The AJGA, returns to Shreveport for the 7th year in a multi-day golf tournament at Southern Trace Country Club in Shreveport, Louisiana. The event kicks off with on June 10th with a qualifying round followed by a Junior Am on June 11th. Three days of competition round out the event.

Several local golf standouts have played in AJGA events in the past, including PGA Tour rookie Sam Burns and LSU standouts Philip Barbarree, Carter Toms, Nathan Jeansonne and Alden Wallace. The AJGA has a legacy of spurring interest in golf and providing a vehicle for youth golfers to continue play from high school into college. Notable AJGA alumni include Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Jordan Spieth and Rickie Fowler.

“This tournament is phenomenal partnership between Southern Trace, David Toms Foundation and AJGA along with local community partners that help accommodate and provide an incredible and award-winning experience for some of the top junior men’s and women’s golfers in the USA. We are proud to continue to support the event through the Shreveport/Bossier Sports Commission. The economic impact it provides to area businesses and exposure it also provides to our local college bound golfer returns many folds.” Said Kelly Wells, Executive Director of the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission.

“Shreveport/Bossier has an incredible pool of junior golf talent,” said Adam Young, General Manager of the David Toms Academy (which is owned and operated by the David Toms Foundation). “We are fortunate to see these young men and women practice hard every day here at 265. It’s fantastic that we can help bring a high-level tournament in their hometown. I expect our local golfers will do very well against a high-caliber field of players.”
